Product Description
Current Issues and Trends in Education synthesizes political, theoretical, social, and practical topics in a 21st Century context and promotes multicultural education, technology, and gender issues. This text is accessible enough to be used in an introductory education class and yet sophisticated enough to serve as a graduate textbook. It is comprehensive in dealing with issues facing educators today, such as demographics, changing perceptions and research of human development and learning, and education in nontraditional settings. Its four parts cover 1) “Political, Economic, and Historical Issues and Trends,” 2) “Evolving Notions of Human Development and Learning,” 3) “Changing Views of Instruction,” and 4) “Issues in Accommodating Differences.”

| Customer Reviews: I'll never buy from the online school bookstore again February 8, 2010 B. Kinast (Brooklyn, NY USA) This book was brand new - still in the plastic wrap and half the price that I would have paid if I used the online bookstore through my university. The shipping was fast too. Amazon is a great resource for school textbooks.
Highly Recommended March 29, 2009 Deb (Texas) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I received the book in excellent condition. It arrived even sooner than I expected. Great service!
Book is ok, service was not. October 16, 2009 Patricia Ehrhrart The book itself is fine. However, I ordered it in the beginning of the semester and it took over a month to arrive! I was forced to purchase another copy from the university bookstore in order to complete my assignment.
TextbooksRus is now giving me a hard time about returning the book. I will not order from them again.
Superficial at best March 30, 2009 Zhimbo (New York City) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book consists of numerous, brief overviews of various issues, each written by a different author. The topics are broad and the chapters brief, so that the coverage is extremely superficial (the section "How should we teach in regard to culture?" in the chapter on multicultural education gets a total of 1/2 page).
The worst chapter is "The Controversy Over Brain Research", which doesn't cover any controversy, and instead is a completely 1-sided account. Moreover, it doesn't cite a single piece of actual brain research, being drawn almost entirely from second-hand informal reviews in educational journals. That's just unforgiveably shoddy.
PLEASE NOTE: This review also shows up as a review of the more recent edition. I reviewed the earlier edition, and have not seen the revised edition.
refund please April 13, 2009 Christy Dangelo (USA) It is Monday April 13th. The lastest date to receive this book was April 1st. I would like a refund please. I only have 2 weeks left in the class.
